Geislinger GESILCO® DISC
The Geislinger Gesilco® Disc is a coupling for diesel electric drives. The flat membrane made of fiber composite materials allows very high torques to be transmitted at high engine speeds. The Gesilco® Disc is a maintenance-free misalignment coupling. The lightweight, highly-flexible carbon fiber composite coupling is ideally suited for mining and rail applications.
With its non-magnetic and non-conductive properties, the Gesilco® Disc operates in operational temperatures ranging from -45°C up to +100°C. The Gesilco® Disc connects the generator with the combustion engine, isolates the generator from the engine and protects from potential crankshaft bearing failures through electric corrosion. Furthermore, the electrically insulating Gesilco® Disc absorbs high radial forces while transmitting high vibratory torques with the lowest reaction forces.
Depending on the application, glass and carbon fibers with formulated epoxy resins are used. These materials, commonly used in aerospace structural applications are processed by a special manufacturing method. This method provides highly consistent material properties.
The Geislinger Gesilco® Disc can be adapted to general installation parameters. Due to the Gesilco® coupling’s design flexibility, complicated installation configurations can be realized as well.
